Sideways Knitted Pleated Skirt

Here is just one way to make a pleated skirt.

Although one can instead do a vest or sweater top added to the skirt part to make it a jumper or dress for a very lucky girl

And here is the inside of the band not sewn up yet, I need to add the elastic to finish this one off.

Now this is pretty heavy for a skirt so as I mentioned it would work out better on the standard or mid gauge with some thinner yarn. I wanted you to see what I was doing and why I do most of what I show on the bulky machine.

I think I may even remove the waistband and add a short sleeved vest to make this a cute jumper.

When and if I get this done, photos will be uploaded in the future.

What I did in this skirt and you may have to adjust to make larger or smaller is this:

On the Bulky at TD3 with 5 sts and 7.25 rows to one inch.

Cast on 72 sts

  1. Knit 15 rows first color.
  2. NOTE: Cut yarn and turn work after each color which is 20 rows each.
  3. Knit 20 rows second color.
  4. Continue until RC 195.
  5. Knit 4 rows color 1, then one row at TD8. Remove off on WY.
  6. Hang first row with knit stitches facing you, push behind open latches.
  7. Then pull each needle so that the stitch in the hook goes through the stitch behind the open latch.
  8. Then Bind Off your favorite way, I did the back stitch bind off.
  9. Waistband
  10. Now hang the pleats as shown in the video.
  11. Knit 15 rows at TD3, one row at TD8, 14 rows at TD3.
  12. Hang the skirt top and Bind Off, this time I did the Gate Peg Bind Off.

It is actually 20 stripes in total, and 10 stripes of each color.
